A Marriage Riddle Answer

He was 31.5 and she was 34.5
Good old algebra again:
If the age of the man when they married was x, then the age of his wife was x + 3
Four and a half years later his age is x + 4.5 and hers is x + 7.5
Then using the ratio
x + 4.5 : x + 7.5 = 12: 13
we can work out x = 31.5 so x + 3 = 34.5
Simple!
